Eschwege and its sourrounding area

My home is Eschwege and its surrounding area. I do not live directly in the Schwalm, but Eschwege is only 90 kilometers (55.54 miles) away from the center of the Schwalm.
So that you might understand from where I get so many of my creative ideas, I wish to take you on a picture tour of my beautiful surroundings.

Flowers in the garden

My garden is an important factor in my overall well-being. It is not large, but nearly every square foot is dedicated to the cultivation of different fruits, vegetables and flowers.
Of course, my flowers predominate – they find their way into every nook and cranny.

Today the former “band of death” – the strip along the former border to the “DDR” (German Democratic Republic) – is a green band crossing Germany. In and along this tract nature is intact and one can find rare flora and fauna.

  1. So very beautiful your homeland, to me this is heaven on earth. I would treasure a place like this always.

    • Yes, Sherry, it is a beautiful region and every day I enjoy to live in such a quiet and pieceful surrounding. This is good to get creative ideas.

  2. Beautiful photographs of your home area Luzine. You are indeed blessed to live in such a picturesque place.

  3. Thank you for your lovely photos of your home and thank you for the wonderful treasure of your website.

  4. What a beautiful array of photographs. I’m just beginning to learn Scwalm embroidery and am so inspired by your designs. One day, we will get in touch with you and visit you. With many prayers of heartfelt thanks.❤️

    • Thank you, Gina! Unfortunately Eschwege is not “on the way” for many people in the world. So I try to show some of the beauty of Schwalm whitework via my website, but even more I enjoy to receive visitors in Eschwege.

  5. Thank you these photos Luzine! My mother’s family “stamt von Eschwege”. I visited my grandmother who lived close to the Dietermen Turm every month while studying in Gottingen in the 70’s. Unfortunately the longest walks we took were to visit the gravesites of my forebearers, so I had no idea how beautiful the countryside looked. I did remember viewing the OST Zone on the train rides back to Gottingen. My fellow passengers never failed to fall silent while we viewed the appalling border. It’s nice to see your photos of the flowers that grow there now.
I came upon your site because I love Hardanger work and found your edge work interesting. Little did I know the delightful surprise that awaited me. The needleworker I admired lived in Eschwege! I may just have to try the more challenging work of Schwalm Whitework.

  6. What an amazingly beautiful environment. It is so green and lush. I would be happy to work away all day in such a place. I am also in wonder at your work. I have not seen such beautiful work before or ever heard of this technique until today. How inspiring. Thank you for sharing your beautiful and inspiring website.

    • Yes, Schwalm whitework is a very special, sooo beautiful and richly deverse technique. Therefore, I am making great efforts to popularize this embroidery. which originated in a very small area, throughout the world.

  7. Bonjour Luzine,

      Cordialement
      Luzine Happel
