Joseph’s Robe
The sleeves of Joseph’s shirt only have very small areas. Therefore, no thread withdrawing is made, so Chain stitch boundaries can be omitted. When working with filling pattern 571 I noticed that the pattern could look quite attractive even if only the first half was embroidered. So I embroider the Cross stitches (coton à broder No. 20) in this way, but only without thread withdrawing.
The vest should have an openwork pattern. Because of the small area, thread withdrawing is made 2:1.
Some threads are also withdrawn in the area between the hairs. It would have been better to leave these areas without thread withdrawing.
Since I don’t want to weave the threads back in, the area is inevitably filled with filling pattern 147 from Openwork Needleweaving Patterns.
The skirt of the vest also gets a thread withdrawing of 2:1 and
Cable stitches (coton à broder No. 25). A marking thread is withdrawn for the other half of the vest so that the pattern can be worked at the same height later.
Filling pattern 147 from Openwork Needleweaving Patterns is embroidered into the shape.
For the sleeves and collar I want a dense, small Limet pattern, which I found in “Feather Dress” in Limerosen II .
The hat brim is embroidered with geschlossenem Fischgrätenstich (auch geschlossener Federstich genannt) closed herringbone stitch (also called closed feather stitch)??? (Who can help with right translation?) (coton à broder No. 16).
The shirt that looks out of the vest receives the same decoration.
At the end, the hat shape is withdrawn 2:1 and a Rose stitch pattern similar to filling pattern 543 – only with non-staggered rows of Rose stitches – is worked.
The seventh figure, Joseph, is now finished.
