Robe of the first Wise Man
The robe of the first Wise Man is relatively easy to embroider, because he wears a simple, one-piece coat, which is supposed to achieve its effect through a magnificent filling pattern.
In order not to have to interrupt the difficult-to-embroider pattern too often, only the outer outlines are embroidered with Coral Knot and Chain stitches.
Thread withdrawing 2:1 is made over the entire shape of the coat.
With coton à broder No. 20 double crosses (Openwork Pattern Samplers, p. 77)
are embroidered in two steps.
At the end, the drapery is set with wrapped Chain stitches (coton à broder No. 16).
The cuffs are filled with Satin stitches (coton à broder No. 16)
and with the wise man 1 the eighth figure is already finished.
