Selling cut-to-size Linen with Print (2)

I recently began parting with some of the patterned linen cuts I had in my stash.

Today I am offering Christmas-themed patterns.

Everything is printed on high-quality, bright white linen from the company Weddigen (item #925 HW – 16/cm-thread count). The precise outlines make the work significantly easier, allowing you to begin stitching without any extensive preparation.

I have embroidered the “Blanket Stitch Eyelets Star” in two sizes many times,

both in white

and in color.

The simple beauty of the pattern has delighted many. Such a star has always been a very welcome small gift. My own needs—as well as those of my family and acquaintances—have now been met. I still have several printed pieces left, which I would now like to sell.

I have also embroidered the versatile “sevenfold star” pattern twice—once as a larger central star with one border.

and once as a large, remaining unembroidered star with a surrounding pattern.

I have decided not to go ahead with the last project, for which I had intended to accentuate the star’s multiple edges through embroidery.

The seven different star sizes offer plenty of scope for creative design.

I have also already embroidered the table runner featuring the cute “babushka angels” onto hand-woven linen.

The group of three is 30 cm wide and 17 cm high. Two such groups are printed on the linen, each positioned 15 cm from the narrow edge.

Selling cut-to-size Linen with Print (1)

There was a time when I had a wide variety of patterns I particularly liked printed onto linen, intending to embroider them later. Now I realize that I will never be able to use up this huge stash. So, I have decided to gradually part with some of the pieces.

The piece shown here measures approximately 140 cm by 215 cm, making it suitable for use as a dining table cloth.

This is Weddigen linen #160 in the color “Falb” (fawn). The 13.5-thread linen is of very high quality, as can be seen from the enlarged image.

The linen is printed with two pattern strips, each approximately 13 cm wide and 190 cm long, featuring a continuous pattern repeat (see photo below).

The patterns are spaced approximately 12.5 cm from the short edges, allowing for a wide hem to be worked.

Measured from the long sides, the distance is approximately 37.5 cm, leaving a clear strip of approximately 39 cm in the middle between the bands of the pattern.

I am selling this large, printed piece of linen at the attractive special price of €79.00—especially considering how hard it is to find such high-quality linen in this color these days.

Tea Cloth MJ2 (1)

Decades ago, Irmgard Mengel, based on an idea by Maria Jung, cut a stencil for printing onto a tea cloth.

The motifs are arranged in a square pattern, leaving a rather circular area free in the center.
The pattern square measures approximately 50.5 cm x 50.5 cm, with an inner diameter of approximately 29.5 cm. It was transferred to a 90 cm x 90 cm piece of linen.

As I have since taken over Irmgard Mengel’s stencils, I can print such a pattern for you upon request.

Maria Jung’s designs typically feature intricate patterns. What I particularly like about them is the contrast between rounded and pointed shapes. For this reason, I had this specific pattern printed onto hand-woven 19/20-count linen, embroidered it, and have now completed the piece. The cloth is currently drying on the line in the garden.

Rooster and Hen

Easter is approaching, so I’ve been looking for a suitable motif. I’ve embroidered eggs and bunnies many times before. But roosters and hens are also a popular Easter theme. So here are these figures – perched on the ground in cozy togetherness.

The rooster with its bushy and fluffy tail feathers

and its powerful comb and wattle

stands in stark contrast to the moderately shaped hen.

To match the striking outline design, all areas were embroidered with patterns from the books Limetrosen I and Limetrosen II. For example, the hen’s wing was decorated with the “Hare Ears” pattern (Limetrosen I, page 50) and her belly with the “Wave” pattern (Limetrosen I, page 17).

The rooster’s comb and wattles are decorated with the “Net” pattern (Limetrosen I, page 12). The neck received the “Plumage” pattern (Limetrosen I, page 15), the breast “Cascade” (Limetrosen II, page 20), the belly “Ribs to the Left” (Limetrosen II, page 9), and the wing “Feathering” (Limetrosen II, page 11).

I have this pattern on a cushion. I can also easily imagine it on a runner or a bag.

Advent Wreath with Balls

The motif “Advent Wreath with Balls” makes a lovely decoration for a seasonal tablecloth. The design was created by the artist Gudrun Hartwig.

The fir branches made from coral knot stitches and satin stitches are quickly embroidered.

The circular shape of the differently sized balls offers many possibilities for filling pattern selection.

In this example, they were embroidered exclusively with patterns from the book “Stars”. These patterns have a particularly three-dimensional effect and are suitable as individual stars for the smallest balls as well as magnificent continuous patterns for the large ones.

Of course, you can choose many other patterns. A single branch with a ball is a good choice for a gift bag. Let your imagination run wild!

The embroidery shown here was done on 16/cm-count linen. The wreath has a diameter of 40 centimeters. I have a stencil for this design, so I can print the wreath.
